Square:

Round 1: MR, Ch3 (counts as tr here and throughout). Work 3dc, (tr, 3dc) x3 into ring; join with slst to top of ch3. End count: 4 tr (corner stitches), 12 dc (3 per side).

Round 2: Ch3, 2dc in same spot (top of previous round’s turning chain). * Dc in each dc across the row; (2dc, tr, 2dc) in tr. Repeat from * for each side, ending last repeat by working 2dc in top of previous round’s turning chain, join with slst to top of ch3.

Round 3 - 5: Repeat Round 2

Triangles:

Round 1:​ MR, ch 3 (counts as dc) 6 dc into ring, turn.

Round 2:​ ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in each of next 2 sts, 5 dc in next st (corner made), dc in each of next 2 sts, 3 dc in last st, turn.

Round 3:​ ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in each of next 6 sts, 5 dc in corner st, dc in each of next 6 sts, 3 dc in last st, turn.
