Notes

First try: surf’s up with gray (woolike). Looked very weird. I’ll try again with an off white and stay with knitpicks. Slow progress with fingering wt. Used clean stripe technique where you sl st (which you pull through to the back, then change colors), ch 1, then start in same st as sl st.

Second try: Surf’s Up with OffWhite (“Natural”) - both in Knit Picks Chroma Fingering. In was worried the color changes would be too long to see any color changes in the stripes, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. The lightest color looks fabulous with the off white. I did have to add in some decreases a few inches from the end, as the circumference was measuring 22” and I was aiming for 21”. This yarn/stitch combo is less stretchy compared to other hats I’ve made, but looks lovely and seems sturdy and warm.

Finished dimensions: 8” long, 21” circumference.

For future reference: Knit Picks Chroma Fingering is very hard to frog AND it goes thick and thin in spots.
