Oh boy, my sewing skills need some practice! I made three zippered pencil pouches and did pretty okay for my first try with sewing a pouch and dealing with zippers, I think. And the scarf, which was just blah, looks great as a pencil pouch!

The finished sizes of the pouches are:
Two 9” x 4”
One 8.5” 4.25”
