Wow. This was amazingly simple, albeit hard on the hands (acrylic). It turned out rather well, I think. See my blog post for the full story.

I would suggest when closing the top, to skip every 4 stitches or so to make a smaller hole. I covered up the hole because I didn’t want to see the inner t-shirt liner.

Used pretty much all of 5 skeins of yarn with 12 grams left. Used approx. 60 oz. of fiberfill.

To avoid the stuffing from leaking out of the knitting.
I cut two t-shirts. One, I cut around the bottom for a tube. Lying flat, it measured 13” x 21”. The other, I cut two 15” diameter circles out of the front and back of the shirt. I pinned the circles to the open ends of the tube for a cylinder shape and sewed them together with the serger. I left an opening to stuff polyester fiberfill and then hand-sewed the opening shut. All this was done while I gave the cover a wash in the machine and dried it on low heat. By the time I was done with sewing the t-shirt closed, the cover was done. I then put this inside the knitted cover and drew the top shut with the yarn tail.

I would probably not do this one again because it took a while to knit. I do like some of the garter stitch poufs that use 3 yarns held together. But this one is nice and bouncy, yet still firm enough to prop one’s feet on!
