new technique: cable surgery

modifications:

• cast on 88, increase the two ribs in the middle front and back to 4 st, use those columns in mirrored 2x2 cables

• reverse the direction of the second side cable, and work the 2x2 cables on the left side of the sock as rc, and the right side cables as lc (probably would have made more sense the other way around)

• decrease the back extra cables back down to 2 each before the heel, accidentally do the heel flap in 2x2 ribbing instead of 2x2 heel st (27 rows), turn the heel over 16 rows (14 center st), decrease the gusset down to 44 sole st (94 st total)

• knit 4 instep repeats (including gusset), then knit up to round 16

• after moving one st on each side of the instep to the sole to set up the toe, knit one round with only instep decreases (92 st total, 46 for both instep and sole)

• also holding double with nylon reinforcement thread for the heels and toes since the yarn has no nylon content, and apparently wears easily when used in socks
