First time knitting an afterthought heel for socks! I chose this type of heel because it best enhances a self-striping yarn like this one—keeping the stitch direction uninterrupted and preserving the pattern.

Unlike short-row heels, the afterthought heel is simpler and has the same construction as the toe.

I bought this gorgeous yarn at the Barcelona Knit Festival in December, and the result is amazing!

The only downside to knitting socks… having to make two! Next time, I’m definitely knitting both at the same time!
