-> I used 10.5 needles throughout as that’s what I had, but when I do these again I think size 10 or 9 for the cuff would be better.
Cast on evening of 9 Feb! Twice, actually, since I managed to mess up basic ribbing. As usual.
11 Feb: FROGGED. Second false start! Way too big, and since this is my first mitten ever, I need a pattern that’s a even more dumbed down. Changed from Super Bulky Mittens to Quick Bulky Mittens.
11 Feb part 2: I just knit half a mitten! This pattern is going so much more quickly; it calls for 20 sts instead of 28, which would make a difference at my seed. This fits so well. I am ridiculously excited about this. :D
12 Feb: Knit the hand and kitchenered the top!
13 Feb AM: knit the thumb and wove in the ends. I HAVE A MITTEN. I am so stoked about this.
14 Feb: Half the second mitten!
15 Feb: FINISHED! Woohoo! I knit a pair of mittens! They are so soft and cuddly and warm. :D
PROJECT NOTES: there’s no left or right to this pattern. My first one is on the right: you can see how flat it is across the top. For my second one, I rearranged the stitches on the DPNs for the decreases so that the ‘beginning’ of the round started in a different place and the decreases began just past the thumb. And I kept ending up with an extra st at the end, so I think I did an extra K2tog which helped with the curve.
