Notes

I continued increasing for 32 rows, giving me 34 stitches & 6.5” across the leaf & 5” long. I did 6 more rows (38) to give me 5.5”. The leaf used 14 grams (so I keep aside enough for the last leaf).

As with the last bow tie scarf I made, I found it easier to place the divided stitches on DPNs, then knit each side of the sleeve. I did 12 rows of ribbing for each side & did a duplicate stitch over the first rows that were pulled more tightly than the rest of the piece.

I knit the neck section to 17.5”, then did the ribbing for the feed through section for 13 rows as I thought it needed to be longer than the sleeve side to keep it from bunching. If I had more yarn in this ball, I would have done 2 more rows.

Scarf finished, but now I have to see if I can get it to lay flat. Doubtful since it’s acrylic. I steamed blocked it twice & it was better, but not good enough. I tried a SC edge but my crochet edges never look great. Then I thought of applied I-cord - I did a 3 stitch edge with size 3 needles, but it still rolled. In desperation I took a tapestry needle & did a Bickford kind of stitch, pulling the edge stitches to the first column of knit stitches. It made the scarf thinner, but it worked.

Helpful hint - DO NOT use acrylic or other yarn that cannot be blocked for this scarf!!
