I like a gently sloping thumb gusset, so I started it on round 9 instead of the 17th. I do thumb increases every 3rd round instead of every other, so I have to follow the cable shaping instructions, but do my own thing for the thumb. Pay attention! I did the hand instruction section just one time. I did 6 rounds of ribbing at the top.

I did not include the extra stitch after the thumb stitches & it took me to round 7 in the thumb gusset section to get 14 stitches. I did two more rounds before placing the 14 stitches on a holder on round 10. I picked up 2 more stitches, did 4 rounds of SS with the larger needles, then changed to the smaller ones & did 3 rounds of ribbing. (I wish I had set aside only 12 stitches & picked up 2 for the thumb. Instead, I ripped back & worked the thumb on just 14 stitches without picking up extra stitches. It was hard to close up the gap.)
