Trying to recreate this neck warmer Mom made long ago. I used to have the pattern, but have misplaced it. It was in a magazine, probably Women’s Day & I know three size needles were used to make the fat to skinny shape. It looks like mistake rib, so multiples of 4 for ITR. (Mom knit it flat & used 71 stitches, I think). Of course it could be knit in either direction, but I think she did bottom up (wide to skinny). I’ll do it top down because I know my cast on is stretchier than my BO.

Dimensions of Mom’s project:
Top circumference- 19”
Bottom circumference- 29”
Length- 16.5”

The Ithacowl seems to be just the ticket, except I’ll switch needle size.

I CO 108 stitches on size 8 needles & use that needle for 1.5”.

6/7/25 - About 4” into the project when I realized the two balls I started with weren’t going to be enough, plus the top was wider than I wanted. So I found another yarn to supplement, ripped back & started over with 12 less stitches (CO 96 this time). Plan is to do 2 rounds of each color. Gonna be a lot of boring knitting with hard to work with yarns, but hope the end result is worth the effort.

Kinda easy to get sidetracked. First round of each color is K1, second round of color is K2.

Rather tedious, but finally done & it turned out like the one Mom made.
