Notes

My other try at a stick horse turned out too big, so I’m making this one with aran weight when the pattern calls for bulky. So far it looks to be a good size for a little girl. I hope there’s enough yarn on the skein - the pattern doesn’t specify. (Plenty of yarn to spare.)

I did 17 cms instead of 25 before doing the heel flap.

Used the brown yarn for the bridle & reins. The reins were done in I-cord. The bridle is 5 stitches, done in garter. The stick is an old broomstick that John painted, cut & attached for me.

The mane is done in fun fur. After all the trouble getting this done, I think it turned out cute.

4/22/13 - Just located the pattern I used - it was from a blog! - http://knitandmake.blogspot.com/2011/09/my-knitted-hobby-...

Named Mamie, after Mrs. Eisenhower. All the stick horses I make will be named after one of our horses. Mamie’s registered name was President’s Lady & was out of a mare owned by Ike.
