My skein of unidentified variegated acrylic is 116 grams (half = 58).
I cast 3 stitches onto DPNs, did 5 rows of I-cord, then turned & picked up 6 more stitches from the side & end of the I-cord. Then I transferred the 9 stitches to my circular needles & did one row even. I don’t see any reason not to use KFB increases when doing garter stitch.
I looked at other’s projects & decided I liked the shape of the one I marked as a favorite: increased every 4th row x 2, every 6th row x 4, then every 8th row.
I tried slipping the last 3 stitches, but wasn’t thrilled with the look of the left front edge, so I started over & tried slipping just the last two stitches & like that look better.
BTW, I have no idea what the designer means by (+1) & (-1) after the slipped stitches. Does she mean to slip the stitch just created or decreased also? I must be dense because I didn’t notice anyone else having a problem with this instruction.
I knit to 34 stitches to get to the halfway point on my skein & started the decreases. It is just shy of 8” wide at its widest. Start decreasing every 8th row until there are 15 stitches left, every 6th row x 4, every 4th row twice, then BO per pattern.
I used Knit Purl Hunter’s I-cord BO instead of Kitchener.
Somehow I didn’t use the entire skein - I had 8 grams left.
Not really long enough…
