Making this out of cheapcheap yarn because cloches look crapcrap on me. Wish it weren’t true, but there it is. Cloches make me look like a big o’ pumpkin head on a big ol’ tick body. I figure if this looks as awful as me as cloches do, I can give it to any friend who like and will wear it, without worrying whether that person knows how to take care of (that is, wash without destroying) fine hand-knit woolens. This hat looks great on everyone in the gallery, so I’m sort of counting on NOT having to give it away, and if that’s the case I’ll either wear it as an easy-care knock-around hat, or I’ll wear it as an easy knock-around hat and also knit a fancy one in some really great yarn. I suspect if I could wear any cloche and still look like a normal female human who is not even in part a large winter squash of any kind, it will be this one.
