Notes

This is the kit I bought from Gateway Fibreworks at this year’s Kitchener Waterloo Knitter’s Fair.

December 8, 2025

The Alpaca Whisper was a little too whispery for my liking. I ripped back all the work in my Dec 7 photo until the end of the first Bee Stitch section.

Starting the stockinette section again, this time holding the Alpaca Whisper doubled. I very much prefer how it looks and feels now. The brown isn’t as see through now and feels firmer yet still soft and fluffy.

I’m nearly done, just have to do the garter stripes of Colour 1 and Colour 2. I have 7g of brown left over, which is a lot because I thought I was playing yarn chicken with it this the entire time I was knitting. I’m going to add another section of the Bee Stitch and a 4 or 8 Stockinette Section depending on how far the Alpaca Whisper will go.

January 2, 2026

I added a transition to Bee, Bee Section 4 times, transition to Stockinette, and Stockinette 6 rows. Then the 4 finishing rows and bind off.

I don’t like the garter stitch section that finishes the shawl off. I find it pulls the focus from the Bee Stitch, at least in my colours anyway. I did the Bee Stitch in place of the garter, same number of rows that the pattern calls for just a different finishing look.

This seemed small while I was knitting it and I thought it was going to a shawlette. I’m super happy to say blocking made it massive! I’m super happy with how big it became. The alpaca is super soft and cozy n this is going to be so nice to keep me warm at work. This might be too nice for work, I might end up nuzzling into it and having a little nap.
