Notes

Omitted row 12 of Chart C because I did not have enough yarn to finish. Size after blocking: 37” x 21”

I overdyed the yarn with food colouring because I felt the light green was distracting from the pattern and contrasted too much with other shades of green, and made the shawl look crazy busy.

Slipping the first stitch purlwise with yarn in front creates a VERY NICE edge. I will be using this “hack” for every edge that isn’t being seamed from here on out.

Yarn looked leafy green and I wanted to knit something Lord of the Rings-esque with it.

Needles: US 5 (3.75mm)
Finished Chart B and I have 12 grams left. I don’t know if I have enough yarn to finish. I’m going to keep going and if I’m short then I’ll start over on smaller needles (I only went up a size because I knit tight).

August 14, 2022

I don’t have enough yarn. Frogged back to the beginning, this time casting on with the needles the pattern called for – US 4 (3.5mm)

Needles: US 4 (3.5mm)
I had a tighter tension in the beginning but loosened up because I thought I was going to have enough yarn. I was wrong again. I got to row 7 of Chart C and I might have enough yarn for the next row.

I’m going to frog again, overdye the yarn, before trying again for the third time.

This is my first time dying yarn. And I am pleased at how easy it was. I would do it again.

I used Wilton’s Kelly Green and Moss Green. I used Kelly Green first and added Moss Green until I felt it was dark enough, then added a bit more Moss Green (my reasoning was that it was probably going to dry lighter). I think should have added a tiny amount of black to darken it more. However it is miles better than it was so I’m going to continue ahead and try to not be so picky.

September 2, 2022

Starting again, this time with US 3 needles and tighter tension.

September 18, 2022

Ran out of yarn 3/4 way through the bind off. Tinked back and skipped row 12 of Chart C (the last WS row).

September 20, 2022

FINALLY finished and I have a tiny bit of yarn left over. It real smol. I’ll have to block this aggressively and hope it stays.
