Notes

Overall notes:

The writing of the pattern is a little too wordy, which can be confusing. The formatting could also be a little different so that different sections are more obvious. Still a good pattern and that could all be down to personal preference on my part, combined with it being my first time knitting one of her designs. It won’t be the last though.

My 1st time working with KFO and I find it meh. Like, it’s nice enough but I don’t get the hype. The colours are beautiful but I expected more from their merino. The mohair is stunning!

Post blocking measurements:

87cm wide at front - slightly narrower than we were hoping but I think it’ll still be ok

21cm depth at armhole

Gauge swatch gave me a nice fabric on 4.5mm but only 19 stitches/4” rather than 21 so I had to do some maths.
If my swatch hasn’t lied, knitting a size 1 will give me the width of size 3, which is what we were going for. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. crossed_fingers

Fit Iooks very good - I can’t believe my maths worked! We’re not sure about the lenght as it’s not for me so I’ll leave it on hold until I see her and I’ll finish it then. It’ll be more cropped than the pattern suggests though.

I’m moving on to collar and arms now. I’ll stick with twisted 1×1 ribbing rather than a folded collar because I think that looks odd with the regular armhole ribbing.

Had to unpick and re-knit the neckband in 4mm rather than 3.5mm as suggested. It was far too tight. Picked up 88 stitches for the neck opening.

Picked up 94 stitches for the armhole trim, decreasing 1 st at each endon the first round. I’m knitting twisted rib for it to match the neck.

Had left this to one side for a afew days but I’m back to it now. Picked up 94 stitches for the second armhole trim and I’ll be finished today.

Finished what I can for now and it’s blocking. I hope I don’t have to unpick any of it because… mohair. see_no_evil
