I made this for my cousin who is having a bit of a tough time at the moment. Her favourite colour is purple and the projects for this shawl looked so pretty.
She is a vegan and is particular about all aspects of animal welfare. I didn’t want to use wool, but wanted a natural, soft yarn. This Scheepjes really fits the bill, it is plump and soft, yet being cotton it shows the stitches off well.
I made the first pattern - described as the Long Shawl - and was a bit disappointed at the length of the body before adding the border. The border added another 3 inches making it a better length.
My photos show the shawl half blocked because I wanted to highlight the difference blocking makes to the finished article.
The shawl opens up and the border looks fabulous blocked - it is definitely worth the extra couple of days it takes to get it dry.
