This pattern was easy once I had worked out what it was asking me to do. Sometimes it wasn’t very clear. I went back to the designer and/or Inside Crochet a few times for clarification and they helped me work it out:
- Row 7 says ‘Work as Set’ but I found the pattern difficult to fathom. Inside Crochet sent me a chart which helped. I have included a copy of the chart in my pictures.
- For the first row of the collar, put 1 dc (UK) in each row end. If you are tempted to do more you end up with a ruffle, not a collar (this is now included in the Inside Crochet errata). First time I placed 2 dc in each tr row end, got a ruffle and discovered that it was not possible to frog the lace alpaca. I had to cut it off (see picture).
- The pictures on the pattern are deceptive. I made a small and the collar should be 14 shell rows. In fact I made 18 rows and it still is not as deep as the pattern pics.
- When making the sleeves, for the first dozen or so rows I used a stitch marker in the first stitch until I got used to it.
- You need to use your own experience as to the start stitch for the sleeve rounds. It is not clear.
- TURN at the end of EVERY round of the sleeves. The pattern instructions are inconsistent.
- To make my sleeves 18” long, I did 81 rounds before adding the trim.
- You definitely need 3 balls of Yarn B. 2 would not be enough for even the smallest size.
The pattern makes a beautifully fitted cardigan. The body is shaped and makes me look like I have a waist, the sleeves are fitted and very slimming. The collar is lovely and the overall effect is classy but at the same time comfortable.
The wool is very soft but the stitch makes for a surprisingly robust, yet soft fabric.
Oh yes, almost the best bit is there is no sewing!!
