Notes

I started this the week I found out I was pregnant, and finished it the day before his baptism!

Chris’ family has a gown that they have passed through the generations, but the lace on the overlay has been seriously damaged by kicking baby legs. It was important to me to use a part of that gown for Benjamin’s baptism, so I chose the slip which is in an ivory color. The gown pattern has spaghetti straps, but I wanted something with sleeves, so I combined the body of the dress with the top of the trousers. It worked seamlessly and beautifully!

I am so proud of this dress, but really need better pictures of it.

Edited 10/16/10: Brought the gown along to Miriam’s professional newborn photo shoot so that I could get some great photos of it!

Edited 2/7/11: See comments on this project for exact details on my modifications to the pattern to create a one piece, long-sleeved dress.
