Most favorite sweater ever!

Buttons are from Tessa Ann Designs on Etsy. Custom made just for this sweater!

I can’t believe how many times I unpicked parts of this sweater just because I wasn’t happy with how it turned out. I ripped back a few rows from my provisional cast on because somehow those stitches got twisted and I didn’t notice this until after I kitchenered them together. I redid both sleeves because I decided I actually did care that the stripes not jog under the arms. And for some reason, I knit the incorrect length for the body, but only realized after I had cast off.

The last time I knit this pattern, it was in the 12 month size. I had loved how simple it was but how nicely it fit. However, knitting the larger size this time, it really brought out some inaccuracies in the pattern. For example, when telling you how to decide buttonhole placement, the pattern tells you to evenly space 6 buttonholes, but the larger sizes call for 7 buttons. Also, I find the written description of how to work the button hole to be confusing (Why cast on 4 stitches for a 2 stitch buttonhole? Typically you cast on 3 stitches when doing a 1-row 2-stitch buttonhole.), so I work my 2-stitch 1-row buttonhole as I have always done. This involves a cable cast-on instead of the knitted cast on the pattern instructs, but I don’t find it makes an obvious difference in design or structure of the hole. Just be aware that if you are choosing to knit a larger size, you will need to keep your eyes open for potential contradictions!
