Notes

The New York City Botanical Gardens are is host this month. The Haupt Conservatory is the Garden’s most famous, iconic building. Designed by the glasshouse architectural firm Lord & Burnham, it is the best example in the United States of the Crystal Palace glass-and-steel school of design.

The Lorillard family owned most of the land that became the botanical gardens. A major renovation in the mid-1990s resulted in a historically faithful, environmentally functional building that will continue for decades as a home for A World of Plants and for several annual seasonal exhibitions.

Little leaves celebrate this wondrous place. Knit from cuff to toe using a Channel Island cast on the embossed leaves create a rich texture that is most enjoyable to knit. I hope you enjoy your “knitting visit” to the New York Botanical Gardens!

Thanks for looking at my project.
