Using up some more old yarn in a rug.
The cream boucle was water damaged in a move, great for a rug blend. I have lots of it.
I am using 2 strands of cream, 2 strands of grey, 1 strand of green.
Error Row 2
The first ch 1 should have a skip 1 after it. Then the stitch count across works out and it matches the other side of the row.
Gauge
Even with 5 strands and a J hook, I get 13 dc = 4 inches. I am a tad bit on the small side. But it’s a rug, it should be okay. I figure if I want it to be wider, I can add more border rounds.
I used the 7 mm hook for the foundation chain.
I am going to stop when I run out of 1 cone of yarn and move onto the border. But I will need to stop when the last diamonds are complete.
I have noticed that the pattern does NOT take you back to the first 2 rows to complete the rug at the other end. I think this would look a lot better than just stopping in the middle of a diamond pattern and then starting around for the border.
So, that is my intention, to end at the top of a diamond and then repeat Rows 2 and 1, and THEN do the border around.
Pattern repeats
The pattern calls for 13 diamond repeats. I only did 12 because I ran out of 1 cone of yarn. I replaced that cone with 2 cones of damaged cream. You can barely tell that the remaining rounds are a bit whiter in color.
Border
It doesn’t work to do a blosc all the way around. It only works on the short sides. I suggest a regular sc around as Round 1, then do the bpsc rounds. The border will look more uniform.
I did 1 round of attempted blosc. Then I did 3 rounds (instead of 4) of bpsc. The last round, I did regular sc. I did this because the border was curling with all of the bpsc rounds. The last row as sc flattened the border so that it lay level.

Hindsight
This is the 2nd hallway runner that I have made that uses rounds for the border. This is the 2nd time that the corners kind of poke out instead of being square. No matter how square they look when you are making the rug, they never look good when you are done.
The place where you join the border rounds looks like crap. The join SHOULD be in the corner and not on the side where you are trying to work bpsc.
