Notes

Hit gauge with needles 4.5mm pretty close. The one enlarged mesh after the smocking can be adjusted easily by first pulling the shorter horizontal float on the backside and then pulling gently both floats on the front. I do this with the previous smocks before starting the next smocking row, so far the adjusted meshes stay nicely put.

The first sleeve got knitted three times •sight•. First try the decreases finished at the elbow leaving me with a tight tube for the lower arm. I frogged and restarted with 2.5 repeats straight before decreasing. Looking at the nearly finishes sleeve closely it appeared too narrow at the armhole. This was when I realized I knit the whole thing with a needle 0.5mm too small. Back to square one once more… With the correct needle size I finally succeeded, just that I probably added a pattern repeat too much, si I wear the ribbing folded over. Will decide later if I like that or not. Would be no big deal to shorten them.

The button band gives the jacket a very tidy and professional looking appearance, for sure I’ll use this technique for other cardigans in the future.

Love the overall result!

The yarn combination feels slightly prickling on me but it’s OK for a jacket. Wouldn’t like to wear it fully next to skin.

Also I decided not to block the jacket. Due to the ribbed pattern everything drapes nicely as is.
