Ok so there are no free top-down raglan patterns for babies, huh? Hard to believe but I’ve given up looking and I’m going to unvent one.
Incorporating some of the adaptations from Lucas’ Lil Grandpa, like the purl round before the ribbing and the nice matching cast-offs .
Notes here will make it possible to do another one, or that’s the plan.
Going for 24-25” chest.

Collar
Picking up 1st in every bar along the garter edge, and one in every stitch across the sleeve heads and back neck and k one row.
Then, marking end/beginning of v neck shaping, knit to 2nd marker around, w&t, then knit back to 1st marker, w&t. Leaving 1st before each wrapped stitch, continue in this way making a wedge around the yoke fronts and back neck to form the collar. Stop the short rows when the w&t reaches the front shoulder. Then knit around, no need to pick up wraps, they don’t show in the garter.
Knit approx 3/4” of garter for the button bands & to increase the collar.
Buttonholes according to the one row method here, each buttonhole over 3 stitches, left side for boys, buttons on the right. Other side for girls.
Knit another 1/2-3/4” of garter so that the buttonholes line up down the centre of the front bands.
Cast off with a 2-stitch icord.
FO pictures after washing.
Buttons on finally 24th June (Brexit day).
