Notes

Nice, very nice tubular cast on, looks very professional. The bizarre looking range of needles are for stabilising the neckline so it doesn’t completely fall off the shoulders. And bizarrely, it works.

Somehow managed to come to the wrong stitch count for the back but put a row of increases in to get to 61. Contemplating thinking back and increasing from a plan knit section but after progressing a further inch it looks ok.

Must check for updated pattern version.

Not sure about the colourwork colour yet not even whether to miss it altogether but have some luscious white CM cashmere on standby.

10 February
The feather & fan and the colourwork has all progressed smoothly with a miraculously accurate stitch count for most of the way, and simple enough to catch minor errors when it’s been out here or there.

The white cashmere colourwork was easy and fun and the texture contrast is perfect. Aand final count before sleeve separation is spot on so all is good.

However the stitch counts are huge - at least 50% more than a normal fit on this size needles, so it’s very slow going. If I manage an inch every morning or every evening it’ll take 12 days to get to the ribbing. And probably a lot more.

End of the month before starting the sleeves? Quite possibly. Or I might pick up one of the sleeves when I’ve done half of the body just to break the monotony. It’s going to be quite a slog.

Onwards!

20th February
Just wound my 3rd ball of Snaeldan approx 4in from the underarms.

Slow going but it’s my alternate WIP so it feels like more progress now that WTF2 knitting is finished.

Yeah, onwards!

22 February
Hibernating this until September. Love it but will love it more in the autumn.

5 May
Brought out of hibernation and finished the hem. As of 6th May am approx 1/3 down one sleeve.

It is BIG. Maybe even huge, but I like it. Am doing the sleeves as written with big wide upper and long fitted cuffs.

14 October
After another long rest it’s back out of the cupboard and I’m delighted to see there’s not much further to go. Love it more now.

30 October
Checking in with pattern for sleeve decreases which are at intervals from underarm to cuff, and then rapidly around immediately before the cuff ribbing. Only 3 more cable crosses to go and it’ll be ready for blocking. Useful because I’m taking it to CH next week.

Will make a dress to go with: looking at plaid stretch Kielo or wool Hinterland with lined bodice. Or both.

Confirmation that I’m really a monogamous knitter. I’m slightly uncomfortable with leaving this hanging unfinished for a whole summer. Maybe monogamous means working on a couple of projects at once, and actually working on them rather than leaving them aside. I’ve got one sock in a nice zip bag awaiting another.

Learning rather a lot about life and myself, thank you Plum. I’m a Myers Briggs completer-finisher.

Almost there. Next pic will be hot bubble bath.

31 October
It’s in a bath with fig flavoured Soak hooray! That was a workout. Spinning later and laying out on a towel on my bedroom floor to dry. Yummy. New jumper.

FO pics tomorrow.

1st November
Thank you Junkosan for another magnificent jumper. I adore it. And it’s really warm. Lovely Snaeldan has softened beautifully.

Two fully startling knitterly mistakes! Incredible. Let me know if you spot them. Hahahaha. Brilliant.

Amazing.
