Instead of dividing stitches to make the hood I kept knitting in rows decreasing two stitches in the center. I placed markers on both sides of the two center stitches and decreased on every RS row as follows: Seed 12 (border), K until two stitches before marker, SSK, SM, K2, SM, K2tog, K until last 12 stitches, Seed 12

Finished by folding hood in half RS showing and separating stitches evenly on two needles (54 sts on each) and Kitchener stitched them together.
