Notes

First needle knit project, WHOO!

I picked this project as a starter as I figured it’d teach me how to knit and purl, how to knit in the round, ribbing, decreases and how to knit on circular needles all in one go.
I’ve made hats on knitting looms before, so I knew all the theory - I just had to learn how to do it on needles.

This pattern is a lot of fun to knit. I had to frog it twice due to messing up the k2p2 brim before I got the hang of ‘reading’ my knitting. (Something I never actually got the hang of with loom knitting) But once I got the ribbing down the rest only took half an hour or so thanks to the easy to understand instructions.

All in all, a great beginner pattern. I felt like I learned a lot and didn’t get bored while making it, which is more than I can say for every scarf I’ve ever attempted.

Two final things.
One: I’m in love with how needle knit stockinette looks compared to loom knit stockinette. (Loom knit stockinette is usually done in an e-wrap which creates a ‘twisted stockinette’ look) Needle knit stockinette looks so neat and tidy compared to what I’m used to.
And two: Malabrigo Rasta pompoms are, like, one of the softest things ever. It’s like there’s a fuckin’ kitten on my head! >w<
