Notes

05/23/11 - Picture added of shrug worn at the wedding! (L-R: Myself, my mother, my brother-in-law, my sister, my father, my brother)

03/14/11 - I tried on the shrug again this morning and did some measuring … and it seemed that I would purl back the row I was on and then join in the round again for the 2nd sleeve. I worked it for quite a few increases, enough that I could try it on, get a sense if it would fit … and if I had to tink back, it wouldn’t be as bad.
I tried it on and …. IT’S GOING TO FIT PERFECTLY! ~squee~ I’m super excited and can’t wait to have it finished!
-- It fell off the needles tonight. Multiple blockings might be needed to fix a few things. Will hope for the best!

03/13/11 - Second ball done and the colour is amazing! The boyfriend picked up 1 more skein (just in case) and managed to find the SAME DYE LOT. Looks like I might be able to start the 2nd sleeve either right away or after a few more rows of st st. Picture posted of progress so far.

03/11/11 - Finally had some time to pick this up again … and the first sleeve is done! I’m pretty sure I’ll have enough yarn, but the boyfriend is going on the hunt for one more ball, just in case.
Length of Sleeve: 11”
Now to start on the back - the pattern says to work in stockinette, but I’m going to add a garter stitch border on each side (5 stitches each) to stop it from rolling.
Ball # 1 complete!

03/07/11 - Picture added of the gauge swatch. Started and frogged twice before I got things right. Because I’m doing the 2x2 ribbing to start, I CO 88 stitches. I knit 8 rows of ribbing (just under 2”). I will do 1 row of stockinette, then a decrease and continue with the pattern. Because I want/need to do half sleeves, I will do half the rows required for the decreases (the extra large pattern calls for decreases on every 12th row, I will do mine on every 6th row).
Picture added of the cuff and when the sleeve was just started. Finished for the day with about half the sleeve done!

03/06/11 - Here we go, my first ever knitted garment. This is being knit because my sister is getting married, and it will be a nice pop of colour to my (black) dress (and cover my shoulders, yay!)
I did a gauge swatch and was just a touch over (unblocked). Pretty much gonna call that good and start.
Mods:
-- Will knit the sleeves in the round on DPNs (yay no seaming!)
-- Will add a 2x2 ribbed cuff to each sleeve
-- I might only have enough yarn to make it half-sleeves … hoping for 3/4s though!

Measurements (rounded up):
Arm length (shoulder to wrist): 22”
Arm length (shoulder to elbow): 11”
Shoulder to shoulder width: 18”

Will document this one extensively, so follow along!
