This yarn washes up beautifully and softens but it is quite harsh on my hands as I knit.
I’ve used regia for dozens of pairs of socks over the years and it wears like iron, softens in the wash to butter and knits perfectly, reliably.
Cast on: 68 because I used 3mm needles.
Slip stitch heel over 34 st.
I bought this yarn sans label but did discover an issue. Most Pairfect socks have a color change back to the ribbing color to indicate it’s time to start the heel. These did not, so I was knitting away and finally realized the color change wasn’t coming when I had knitted 38 grams of the 100 gram skein (obviously I would not have had enough to make it through the foot if I had not ripped back almost 2”…ugh! Sure enough, there was no color change indicator on this particular pair of Pairfect. since there was no color change and there would not be a band of color around the foot, as there often is, I used a slip stitch heel instead of the ones usually recommended for Arne&Carlos Pairfects.

French toe (rounded)
A rounded toe with a pleasant shape and decrease pattern. The positioning of decreases sometimes requires you to move the start of the round to centre the top decrease panel.

Divide the total stitches into three equal sections, or two equal sections and a third section with slightly more or less stitches, depending on stitch count.

Rnd 1: K1, skpo, knit to 3 sts before mrk, K2tog, K1; rep from to end of rnd.
Rnd 2: Knit.

Repeat these two rounds until you have about 12% of sts remaining, ending with a decrease round, then cinch to close.
Update: never do a French toe again for rory. He hated it. Ripped out and did a star toe.
