This is going well. The only bad part was ordering from Deramores. I ordered in April, received my yarn in midJune(!).
I did the sleeves first (together), as is my habit and I like how the garment is shaping up. I am delighted I chose Moordale. Color is rich, fiber is light and airy, fabric drapes beautifully. I plan to add 4” to the length of the body but keep the sleeves at 3/4 length.
6/30-7/4/20 - Sleeves completed.
7/7 - Started the back again
7/21 - Have fronts and back all in progress on a single circular needle, with cabled rib completed and stockinette stitch started. The pattern calls for 29 cm to undergarments but I plan to do 38 cm and got an extra skein to do so. Today I have completed 15 cm of the 38 for the fronts/back.
7/23 - At the 20 cm point on fronts and back, so about halfway to the sleeve decrease. It’s looking so lovely. The turmeric is so lovely to see develop into fabric. The stitches are not super well defined in this yarn but it does give the fabric a textured look even in the stocking stitch parts.
7/28 - at 28 cm now.
8/31 - ready to block. All the elements look as though they will go together well. Only 1 extra skein to add 4” in length nearly ended in a yarn chicken situation but I have just enough left to see it together. Good thing I didn’t do full length sleeves. Phew!
Note: I’ve already blocked the sleeves and they blocked very well. Good at holding a shape and actual measurements were easy to align with expected outcomes…meaning my gauge was ok and consistent.
Pattern notes:
1) I tried to do the body in one piece to the underarms and had challenges making the charts work. Plus, for a 2x, it was nearly 500 stitches and I could not get it to work properly, so I decided to frog and start over with just the back.
2) Cannot stress this enough: The pattern graphs do not show the sizes in the same order for each graph. These should have been color coded because it’s just not evident and the remark about checking size just does not cover the confusion of trying to figure this out.
3) The language is a bit challenging -- at least for this American girl. It is written rather oddly, so pretty confusing in to a Yank, tho it might be crystal clear to a Brit. Like me, you will eventually figure it out. I also found it helpful to do all the cm to inches conversions prior to starting for missing dims in inches.
4) not all the dimensions are shown on the diagram, so I recommend reading through the pattern and filling them in. This will be super helpful as you proceed with knitting and even more so when you block.
