Totally in love with this very retro and charming little bonnet. Miss Ellie Rose looks like she has stepped right out of the 1960s! Very clever design and construction.

Mods:

• knit cable section to 12cm total instead of 15cm
• Used ssk throughout instead of sl1, K1, psso. Personal preference.
• Didn’t bind off the final 20 sts at nape of neck, instead I kept them on the needle cable while I picked up for the neckband, when I came to those sts I worked in the established rib pattern. Once all sts were picked up, to maintain the rib correctly I just counted backwards to the edge to see if I needed to start my row with a knit or a purl st. I really like the clean look created by doing this.
• I used a one-row-buttonhole rather than binding off and back on again.
