Notes

I knitted the first of these at the Elmwood Nursing Home where my husband Paul was being cared for before his death from Alzheimer’s and cancer in January 2013. I usually visited daily with our dog Bill and while Paul would nap with the dog, I’d knit, so it was good to have a simple, non-fancy project like this at hand to pass the time. This was the fifth Homspun K3P3 prayer shawl I’ve knocked out for my sister’s ministry, and the washable yarn makes it easy for the recipient to take care of (not so much with the other wool or alpaca yarns.) I wonder if it is meant for someone in a nursing home.

When I posted pics of it, Paul’s sister Debbie said she would love to have one exactly like it, so I made another one identical to it earlier this year and sent it off to her so she can keep warm over the winter in Cape May.

And since then, I’ve made a third one for my sister’s prayer shawl ministry.
