New knitting store on San Pablo near a very sweet little cafe I occasionally hit up on my walks with the dog, so I stopped in and for the first time in a very long time, actually bought from an actual yarn shop! Didn’t know what I was going to do with this delicate, glossy yarn in a gorgeous deep, cardinal red and I wasn’t really up for something complicated, as I was in the process of having to transition my husband to a nursing home due to end-stage Alzheimer’s and cancer, so I just picked up size 4 needles and did the simple K3P3 stitch I have been doing with the larger Homespun projects. The size of the yarn makes it look almost ribbed and after knitting up one skein I realized I would need another skein beyond the original three I had bought, so thank God for online, managed to find same color and dyelot. This one is going slow but I like the results. I kept this at home until recently as my TV project but now I’ve brought it to the office to keep my busy when I have no-shows or an extra hour, so it’s going to be going even slower now.
Update: This project spent the last six months at the Elmwood Nursing Home, next to my husband’s bed, perfect project for the many hours there, helping him sleep or calm down, waiting for his meals. I thought it might not outlast him, but it has, and I finished it in Guerneville at my friend Padma’s home, last Sunday, where it became her spontaneous Christmas gift (after the addition of requested tassels).
