Notes

I downloaded this pattern months ago and practiced the two basic stitch patterns in it (the fountain pattern on the sides, and the main body in flame chevron) with two previous shawls, so that when I launched into putting it all together here, I wouldn’t be too confused. And that’s how it worked. Very easy to knit, once you know the pattern, it “reads” very easily and has a lot of variety to be interesting.

One thing, however, I could not figure out was the “Bear Tracks” edging. I think there is an error in the pattern chart. From the instructions, it seems to indicate that the “fans” should be in ribbing, but if you look at the chart, which indicates ALL rows, front and back, you can see that you knit into knit and purl into purl after you turn, which yields a seed stitch fan, not a rib stitch fan. Am I wrong? I left it seed stitch which looks fine, but that’s not what the pattern indicates.

Also gave me a chance to practice the grafting technique, adding the second edge to the end, once the main body was completed.
