Now that I’m up to speed with the yarn-over/lace-knitting techniques, using thicker yarns and larger needles, I got all ambitious and decided to see if I could tackle a smaller needle/more delicate yarn combination for something closer to real laciness. Takes a lot of attention and concentration (and goes real slow, took almost a year to complete), but I do like the result. Lotta heartache behind this one, though--knitting it through the last year of my husband’s life at home with me before having to go to long-term care and hospice due to end-stage Alzheimer’s and metastasized Merkel cell cancer. Perhaps it will give comfort to someone suffering from the same conditions.
