so all was going fine until i tried to make the back and shoulder pieces. the math was off. the pattern said that i should have 33 clusters across the bodice, but that wouldn’t allow for an even front and back. the pictures in the pattern showed 34 clusters. i made due and altered the pattern, having to rip out a few times to try and get the spacing be equal under the arms. i ended up having the opening of back piece (between the straps) only 5 clusters wide and the front be 6 clusters wide.

i added an extra row to the bodice in the beginning. it was too short. i also added a few rows onto the shoulder pieces.

i encounter another problem at round 8 of the skirt. the author’s pattern was inconsistent to the chart she is referring to. she does not follow the chart for round 8. she adds an increase every 3 clusters. since i had 33 clusters to begin the skirt, i had to make 11 more clusters in this round. i will later have to increase this number, so the math wasn’t adding up. 33+11=44. 44 is not divisible by 3. after getting all the way to the next section where i had 44 clusters, i had to rip all the way back to round 7. so for round 8, i made the increase every three clusters, except for one on each side so you wouldn’t notice it.
33+ (11-2) = 42. this is divisible by 3. yay!
i had to do this the 1 more time as well.
42 + (14-2) = 54
54+18=72
72+24=96

i made 4 sections of the pattern on the skirt. when i got to the border edge, i chose to do a simple shell border instead of the border called for in the pattern. it looked cleaner this way to me.

i used the darker pink in the tutti frutti yarn for the edging of the neckline and arm holes.
