Notes

i started off with one skein of beachy using the moss stitch and 3 sequences wide.

my color sequence was:

4 tan
2 green
3 light blue
6 blue / 5 with the offset
5 white

i tried adding another skein but the number of stitches was too different, so i decided to make a hexagon panel for the rest of the blanket.

1 skein of beachy using an h hook and 3 sequences wide measured 25.5” x 8.5”.

i charted my hexagon panel using a honey comb grid on a word document.
i used 8 different colors of yarn, complimentary to the colors in the beachy variegated yarn. in total, i made 38 hexagons and 8 half hexagons.
in order to connect my hexagons together, i used a join as you go method so i wouldn’t have to weave in any more ends than i needed to. i gave the connecting stitches extra texture by adding a slip stitch between each connecting stitch.

i filled in the missing spaces in the hexagon panel (triangles) with the following stitches in each, starting with the peak, down to the valley, and back up to the peak:
sc, sc, hdc, hdc, dc, dc, tr2tog, dc, dc, hdc, hdc, sc, sc.

i went around the hexagon panel with another round of sc which also made the width of both panels close to the same.

i added 8 rows i moss stitch to the pooling panel. i then connected both panels with the mattress stitch.

when making a border around the two pieces, i had to decrease stitches on the hexagon panel. i used the moss stitch around the entire piece, so when i got to the sc stitches at the hexagon panel, i decreased by sc, ch1, sc across the next 2 stitches, c1 then repeat around.

i used 9 rows of moss stitch for the border.
