Notes

i crocheted 4 sequences wide in moss stitch. all colors were 3 stitches (except for the purple on the ends was 4 stitches). i did 2 stitches of purple on each end in order for the colors to perfectly stack on top of each other. the yarn color sequence is mirrored, so it is able to stack on top of each other every row (as long as one of the mirrored colors - in this case dark purple or dark blue are on each end).

my color sequence for each row:
2 purple
3 lilac
3 light blue
3 bright blue
3 light blue
3 lilac
3 purple
3 lilac
3 light blue
3 bright blue
3 light blue
3 lilac
3 purple
3 lilac
3 light blue
3 bright blue
3 light blue
3 lilac
3 purple
3 lilac
3 light blue
3 bright blue
3 light blue
3 lilac
2 purple

purple was the longest color out of all of them so i decided to use purple to start and end each row so that i could get 4 moss stitches from that color (2 moss stitches to end each row, ch2, and 2 moss stitches to begin each row).

1 skein measured 32” wide by 18.5” tall. the color change near the middle of the first skein is where there was a knot in the skein. the texture, color, and length changed a bit, but i was able to manipulate my stitches to keep 3 moss stitches each using only my 5.00mm hook.

in order to get clean transitions between colors, i finished the last stitch in each color by pulling up the next color to close the sc.

the ends were hard to get 4 moss stitches in purple with the turn so the lilac comes through the purple on those edges.

i added the second skein so some of the color sections were a bit longer and also inconsistent. i had to manipulate stitches much more frequently in order for them to fall where they were supposed to.

when i got through half the second skein, i decided to do one pattern repeat high of “argyle”. i simply loosened up my tension and ended the row with 2 moss stitches and only one moss stitch in purple on the next row (3 moss stitches instead of 4 purple). every new color that ended up on the edge needed to have 4 moss stitches every other row to continue the argyle pattern. i continued until purple showed up at the end of the row again. then i finished the rest of the skein using the stripe pattern.

i added 9 rows of moss stitch for the border using complimentary solid yarn. i did use a variety of yarn brands in order to match the caron jumbo yarn as best i could. they were similar by not the same texture. the border mimicked the stripe colors. my border rows are as followed:
2 rows boysenberry
1 row lilac
1 row turquoise
1 row blue hawaii
1 row turquoise
1 row lilac
2 rows boysenberry
