10/19/17 i started the planned pooling piece and used 1 skein of peas and carrots. i finished it on 10/22. it measured 23.5” x 11.5”.

i wanted to do some color work on the other side and make a small baby blanket, so i matched the peas and carrots with 5 separate colors of solid yarn in the same brand.

i made a shell pattern for the other side and kept the blue on one end, maintaining 15 shells per color on the increase. i wanted it to have the illusion of melted crayons, so i flipped the shell panel sideways. this section is not planned pooling. it is color work made to look like planned pooling.
when the color hit the bottom i wanted the shells to decrease back, so i changed the shells of the solid yarn to 17 shells to keep the blue yarn at the bottom.

i joined the two sections together with a moss stitch join on both sides. i love blankets that look the same in both sides.

the border is done in moss stitch with 2 rows in blue, 2 in yellow, 2 in orange, 2 in yellow, and 1 in blue. i wanted to end with 2 blue rows, but i ran out of that color.

7/3/18- i entered this blanket in the 2018 marin county fair and won 2nd place in category: crochet, original design.
