after testing a couple of swatches, i settled on planned pooling with the shell stitch. i put in my stitch counts on plannedpooling.com to see what it would look like.

i hook 5.5mm for all except row 3 of border.

i crocheted a half sequence across (20 shells) and it measured out to 32” which is a good size for a baby blanket before the border.

i started halfway through the blue so that color pops out of the bottom corner. i am going to try and end on blue as well so the blue makes a big V.

one skein made 14 rows of shell stitch (6 inches).

finished skein 2.
this yarn is lovely, but has so many knots in it. and the knots are collected to another color that messes up the sequence. i am having to cut and trying to match up without wasting yarn.

the knots continue. there’s at least one, some have two in each skein. my first skein didn’t have any knots.

i’m so in love with these colors. now it is looking like a lisa frank blanket.
knots and color sequence matching are horrible. i have been using the end of some skeins to match up where the knots are to be able to continue.

only about 9 rows left to get back to blue (to match the beginning corner), but i may want to continue until i get the yellow to end in the corner to be double symmetrical.

started on border with blueberry.

border:
row1: starting on bottom, hdc around each chain and in each stitch, (2hdc, ch2, 2hdc in each corner); sides: 3hdc for every 2 rows; top: dc in sc, hdc in next 2 stitches, sc in top of shell, hdc in next 2 stitches, dc in next sc (across). turn.
row2: dc in each stitch, (2dc, ch2, 2dc in each corner). turn
row3: change to H hook 5mm to prevent waving, dc in each stitch, 4dc in each corner.
