Notes

Yarn was a gift from viewer Craig in Alaska. Laines du Nord has a translated pattern for this yarn, which is toe up (starting with the outside of the ball). I don’t care for the pattern, because it doesn’t list gauge and seems to be a one-size-fits all pattern, using whatever for the length, and a larger needle after the heel turn.

I am knitting a long round toe, toe up, with a peasant heel, PCO 8 additional sts for the heel to accommodate my larger circumference heel diagonal/heel depth.

Adding increases when leg above the heel was about 5.5’’ long. Increasing 2 sts at back of leg, spaced 2 sts apart, followed by 4 plain rnds. Increased from 64 sts to 82 sts. Starting the ribbing following the wide turquoise stripe (working the first rnd of the dark blue to avoid blips at the transition). Will work in 2x2 ribbing until the final blue stripe. Plan to knit 1 rnd, then do half-hitch BO with the remaining blue. 45%

Ribbing ended up 23 rnds long, with the final wide stripes 5,6,7, and 8 rnds long.

I wanted to use all the yarn, so the sock ended at a somewhat awkward point on my calf. We’ll see if I can manage to keep the socks up on my legs when I wear them! 50%
