3/6/16: Finished the second sock (again). It’s shorter than the other sock and knit much looser but it should work.
2/28/16: Finished the 7” foot and started the heel. I did most of the heel in stockinette and for the last few rows I did the slip stitch heel for reinforcement. I didn’t measure the heel, I fit it to my foot.
2/20/16: I’ve never worn these socks. :(
The below mentioned reknitting didn’t go well and I frogged the sock and forgot about it. For all of these years I thought the remaining yarn was unusable.
Today I found a small ball of this yarn. I know I can’t get a full sock out of it, but I’m hoping to get enough of the Film Noir colorway knit so I have a (nearly) matching pair of socks.
I’m going to knit this second sock on bigger needles (3.00) so the yarn will go farther.
3/7/10: I developed a hole near the heel of one sock. It wasn’t due to wear. I think I dropped a stitch or did something funky with the yarn.
Darning didn’t fix it so I’ve ripped back to the foot and am reknitting the sock. I love these socks too much to give up on them.
3/14/10: I cast off the socks this afternoon. My plan of knitting one pair of socks a month this year is woefully behind. This is pair one and it’s already March 14th.
I liked this yarn a lot. Each skein had a couple of knots, but I was able to work them out without cutting.
Details:
- CO 6
- Increase to 72
- 7” foot before heel flap
- 2” heel flap
- Continue heel pattern for a few rows after decreases are finished in order to make a larger heel flap.
- 4.25” leg after heel flap
- 2” cuff in 2x2 ribbing
3/8/10: I finished the first cuff tonight. I still have to bind it off, but I’m going to finish the second cuff and do them together.
2/24/10: Both gussets are done and I’m knitting up both legs.
2/14/10: I’ve picked up the gusset and started up the leg of one sock.
1/26/10: I’m home sick from work and completed both heel flaps and both heel turns.
1/23/10: Both feet are done.
1/9/10: I increased to 72.
These socks are coming along nicely. The yarn is a joy to knit and I love the striping.
I cast on the second sock today
1/1/10: I’m a classic movie nerd. I have to own a color called Film Noir! And to complete the dorkdom…I have to knit them while on my Humphrey Bogart kick.
I cast on 6 for these socks.
