That red just needed a simple and funky pattern imho. I’d racked my brain, because I didn’t want bling or flowery or sweet on top of the colour. Then it clicked with this pattern!

Easy to memorise the pattern. Also, I’m not bothering with extra needles for the lattice stitch. Just knit them off the LH needle in the right order, kind of like cabling without the cable needle.

• 6 row picot edging right from the beginning (not to self: just make sure that there are two selfedge stitches between the picots and all is good…)
• Lattice stitch just on the needles, without third needle, works fine
• work until 30 stitches with increase in every RS = 15 lattice crosses (smaller needles and thinner yarn)
• then increases in every fourth row (second RS row)
• work till 70 stitches
• work 6 repeats straight
