Haleakala is a shield volcano, they are also sometimes called “red volcanoes”. My yarn is a rich, dark red - hence the name :-)

At the heel flap, the suggested length gives me more stitches than I can reduce to get back to 56 stitches. Argh. Will decrease twice on the sole on the first sock and remedy for the second one.

IMHO there’s an error in the pattern - after the foot chart, row 7 should read k1, ssk, slip marker, k2tog, k1. This continues the look, the other doesn’t.
