Notes

Apparently, “hitofude” means brushstroke, as in knitting the whole garment in one brushstroke without cutting yarn. Combined with the colour of my yarn (burning haystack) that ended up in my projects name. Plus, when we were kids growing up in the countryside, we would try to “pattern” the freshly mowed fields, until we were caught. Oups!

I am living vicariously by not alternating skeins. I would not know where to do this in this design, though…

I’m improvising somewhat with this pattern as I go along.

Knitting in DK instead of fingering and different needle size.

Swatch in stitch pattern, washed and blocked is 20 stitches on 29 rows on 10x10cm.

Taking size M for the arms and increasing length by one repeat on each side.

10 pattern repeats (1+9) for the arms, taking into account the growth of the yarn when blocking.

Instead of going up needle sizes for the three needle bindoff, I did a stretchy bindoff.

Was 1 stitch off for the back repeats to be aligned after the ribbing. Adjusted close to the underarm seams by adding / removing one stitch respectively.

Doing the summer hitofude alternative lace chart from here

Pattern Repeats AAAA BBB CC D E

The yarn grew a bit more than expected by the swatch, but I’m loving the length! Roughly 30 inches from neckline to bottom back. Would shorten a fingering weight version, though. Probably.
