Do I remember enough German to knit this sweater? Probably not!
Am I smart enough to let that slow me down? Hahahahahaha.
~~I have figured out the shaping at the very beginning.~~ (Turns out there was no shaping here; I was just supposed to be doing short rows that picked up one extra stitch on each end each time.) Putting green stitch markers at the start of the increase rows, and red at the start of the non-increase rows.
Well, I missed out on the buttonholes, no one’s fault but my own. Other than that, I think I’ve got this down. I helps that it’s very easy once the few short rows at the beginning of the garter stitch are taken care of.
Used crochet provisional cast on at sleeve division so I can pick them up easier for the sleeves themselves. Now it’s a straight shot to 22 cm and then ribbing.
10/27 Made it a bit too long before ribbing, but that doesn’t matter at all.
I’m somehow failing to interpret the sleeve instructions correctly. I’ve picked up 45 sts and will decrease to 36. My initial interpretation wouldn’t give me enough time to reduce to where I need to be with relatively short sleeves, so I am going to reduce on the 4s instead of the 6s (maybe I’m supposed to be reducing twice on the 6s)
That change allowed me just enough rounds to get down to 36 sts--36 rounds. So 5 rounds of ribbing will take me up to 41 rounds.
Well. I finished it. And I am pretty sure I owe an apology to the designer, but at least it came out sweater-shaped.
Follow-up: It actually fits well and works as a sweater, even with my screw-ups.
