Notes

I want a 16” total rise and width, so I am starting with 56 foundation HDC. Every other row will have eyelets made by working two stitches in one and then skipping the next on either end. The sixth from the end will be skipped, & the fifth will have the extra stitch.

I kind of love that I don’t even need the pattern.

Stopped after 22 rows. This measures closer to 9” than to 8”, but I have learned my lesson about losing some width to the seams.

Since I tend to have fat thigh babies, I am leaving a lot open for legholes, and only closing up 3 inches down. Decided to use this method (which I’ll be revisiting if I remember it the next time I need to join motifs) to join the sides, SCing in the stitch nearest to me and then slip-stitching in the back one, for 12 stitches. It looks a bit bulky initially, but it flattens out nicely when the seam is pressed against, and it doesn’t look like I really lose any width. This might be the ideal “seam” for this soaker!

Using up 24 sts per side for seams leaves me with 32 for the cuffs. I’m bringing my bistitchuality into this. Plan is to drop down very slightly in needle size, to 4.5mm, and make cuffs that are 10 rounds stockinette and another 10 two by two ribbing. Ended up doing only 6 rounds of each, which turned out super cute.

Made a crochet chain of 120 out of both yarns held together.

This is easily my favorite iteration of this soaker I’ve ever made.
