I’m busting (ha!) out of my dress for the company party, so I need something to cover my boobs. Between the dress and the new bra, I have no interest in spending more money for something that probably won’t fit right. Stash (from Goodwill!) yarn to the rescue.

The fichu starts out as a simple stockinette triangle with garter borders:

Increase on every other row at start & end.
Begin stockinette stitch (purls on non-increase rows) as soon as 10 stitches are hit.

Keep the first and last four stitches in garter, center in stockinette.

Work increases on all-knit rows until piece is 44 stitches.

Switch to Chevron Lace, still keeping the first and last four stitches in garter. Work three repeats of that pattern.

Work garter stitch for three rows. Bind off using picot bind off 2 sts on/4 off but b/o the first and last four stitches normally.

Ties of 50 chains at the top ends and 40 at the bottom tip.

It works!
