Notes

Lovely hat that was intended to be a Christmas present but hubby fell in love with it and refuse to give it away! It’s his now.

Mini mods:
Used mods from Reegmo

  • Brim ribbing done on 3.5mm needles for 6”
  • Changed to 4.5mm needles and worked on the cabled part

Things I’ll do differently:
This hat turned out so small and tight! Even the cabled part, where I followed the pattern and used 4.5mm needles, was ridiculously snug. I had to wet block it over a plastic container to stretch it out, which it thankfully did. I never had to do this for other hats before. I normally just wash and lay flat to dry. That’s how tight it was!

So when I knit this again (which I probably will) I’ll use 4.5mm needles for the rib and 5-5.5mm needles for the cables.

Plus, I’ll probably only knit the brim for 5” unless it’s for a large male’s head. It was just a tad too long and covered the lovely cables when folded up.
