Choosing yarns: Stylecraft aran (from charity shop): Pistachio & Mushroom. Wondering whether to use an unlabelled (possibly Duck Egg) one too…
Jogless join for knitting in the round:

Did a sample piece. Took me a while to get my head round the C3F / C3B^ tbh!!
Started with 222 sts (Edit: final vsn 300 sts) but struggled with the circular needles I have. Also managed to twist it when joining in the round, so will frog and after the cast on, will do one or two rows straight, then join.
Only problem here is that when I’m joining it in the round, I need to change colour!!! So how am I going to do that?! I think I need to use the cast on end and make sure that it’s joined, then I can always undo that afterwards…

Changing colour while knitting in the round - how to reduce the ‘jog’
https://youtu.be/3u3nQZl5n5U?si=wypQEkDDNg0Xg5Mx
Started gauge - using 4.5mm - spot on widthways, but 4 sts out heightwise (mine is 19 sts W × 26 sts H, rather than 19sts W x 30sts H)
Update: 2nd gauge now measures 10cm: 22 sts wide × 30 rows high (2.5 reps) with 5mm needles.
Not sure I should have sized up my needles, because I ended up with only 5 repetitions… think it might have been better to keep to 4.5mm and done 6 reps, then blocked to get the extra height.

Cast on 222 sts (37 repeats)
Started with this because that was all my long tail method allowed (I’d guessed how much I’d need) … but I can’t tell if it’ll be big enough.

Changed to 5.5mm for cast on and 5mm for main body. Wasn’t sure if it was going to be big enough, so frogged it all and cast on 300 sts using long tail method (measured 6 arm-lengths, but could probably have got away with 5).
Took me a while to get back into doing magic loop with a plastic cable that isn’t very slippy!!
Edit: gauge now measures 10cm: 22 sts wide × 30 rows high (2.5 reps) with 5mm needles.

Can’t quite remember, but think I managed .75 repetitions (9 rounds).

Can’t quite remember, but think I managed 1.5 repetitions (18 rounds).
May 12, 2025
Did another .75 repetition (9 rounds). LH thumb is starting to ache!!
May 13, 2025
Took most of the day off due to my finger hurting. In the evening, started my 4th repetition.
Had to stop because the cable on my needles was ripping at the one end. Aaaargh!!! Spent a while cutting it off, splicing off the end attached to the needle and then glueing and refitting. Left it overnight for the glue bond to harden.
May 14, 2025
Did my 4th repetition. I have 21g of MC (Mushroom) left, so hopefully I’ll have just enough for a 5th, but definitely not a 6th.
May 15, 2025
Did 6 rows of my 5th repetition.
May 16, 2025
Finished the 5th rep. Touch and go with my MC (Mushroom) yarn… ended up having to break into a 2nd ball just for the cast off.
Used the Icelandic bind off - how gorgeous is it?!
